Entrepreneurship and innovation cell (EnI) is a student run initiative at Indian Institute of management, Bangalore that nurtures entrepreneurial talent in the IIMB Community. The EnI Cell works in coordination with Nadathur S Raghavan Center for Entrepreneurial Learning (NSRCEL). The main activities of the club are as follows:

  • Entrepreneurial Consulting - The EnI Cell attempts to give the students a first hand exposure to the challenges faced by entrepreneurs through real-world projects with startups providing them project based support. This is one of the major activities that EnI is pursuing. It is not only benefiting the students, but also the startups who are providing the opportunity by getting the much needed management related expertise from the best management students in the county.
  • Bzzwings – Bzzwings is one of the India’s biggest business plan contest which is organized as an annual event during vista. Each of the final eight teams in the contest is assigned a mentor. The mentors are entrepreneurs, private equity investors or consultants who have considerable experience with business plans. The panel of judges consisted of eminent venture capitalists.
  • Networking with other Entrepreneurial clubs - EnI cell has collaborations with international entrepreneurship communities like TiE, NEN and E-Cells. We are a member of these associations and use these platforms to network with entrepreneurs. The aim is to gain insights through their experiences and also to explore opportunities for professional interactions for the students.
  • Dialogue Series - EnI Cell organizes talks and workshops by eminent entrepreneurs and venture capitalists. We have been organizing talks from people from diverse backgrounds including: Rakesh Jhunjhunwala, Srini Rajam etc
  • Hosts & Co-coordinators Barcamp!!!

[edit] N S Raghavan Center For Entrepreneurial Learning (NSRCEL)

NSRCEL has been set up at Indian Institute of Management, Bangalore to encourage entrepreneurs to act upon their ideas, energy and talent to produce leading global companies of the future. It is named after Sri.N.S.Raghavan, formerly Joint Managing Director and co-founder of Infosys Technologies Ltd. Its vision is to be a world-class centre of excellence for seeding, nurturing and promoting entrepreneurship with emphasis on startups and existing organizations with high growth potential. The activities of NSRCEL are varied and encompass the following areas.

  • Teaching - NSRCEL offers elective courses focusing on entrepreneurship for students of Post Graduate Programme in Management (PGP), Post Graduate Programme in Software Enterprise Management (PGSM), Post Graduate Programme in Public Policy Management (PGPPM) and Doctoral courses.
  • Entrepreneurship Education Programmes: NSRCEL conducts short term programmes for the benefit of Entrepreneurs in the areas of General Management, Family Business, venture Capital & Entrepreneurial Finance etc.
  • Entrepreneurship Facilitation Initiative: This is a scheme for offering of pro-bono advice to entrepreneurs from a panel of experts registered with NSRCEL, in the areas of Accounting, Company law, Economics, Entrepreneurship, Excise & Customs, Finance & Accounting, HRM, Investment & Valuation, IT, Marketing, Quantitative Methods, Strategy, Taxation and Venture Capital. This initiative is free-of-charge only for the first meeting.
  • Research: NSRCEL undertakes research and case writing in entrepreneurship. E.g.: Global Entrepreneurship monitor (GEM) project.
  • NSR-GIV Incubator: Global Internet Ventures (GIV), a US-based $150 million fund, has provided NSRCEL with one-time grant for housing the incubator on the land provided by IIM Bangalore. The incubator, with state-of-the-art facility, helps entrepreneurs convert their business plan to a commercially viable product/service. The incubator has the capacity to house teams of 4-6 members each and the tenure of incubation is normally a year. There are various facilities been offered to the incubate like faculty guide/industry mentor, IIM B library and computer center, access to network companies, individuals who have started their venture etc.
  • Seminars/Panel Discussions: NSRCEL organizes seminars and panel discussions by distinguished speakers.
