Current ideas for discussion include : riding your bike to your office, which bike to buy, riding around Bangalore on weekends, touring around on your bike, and designing your own bike. Please feel free to add concrete topics below. Malik wanted a discussion about preparation for 500km + rides.

1. Biking to Office - Shree Kumar shreekumar3d (yahoo.com). Wanted to ride your bike to office, but never dared to ? This would be a discussion about the practicalities of riding to your office. There are many questions that pop up in the minds of those interested. Like : is riding in Bangalore safe, things to consider if riding to office, which bike to buy, sweat, pollution, office ridicule and how to handle it, safety gear, how to get "respect", etc. KP: In one simple word it means "Freedom!" :-D. Ever been stuck in a bad jam, waiting endlessly and have seen a cyclist smiling and passing by. That might have been me. But seriously, with most s/w engg.. wanting to buy car and use it all the time. How can poor bangalore take it! and then we blame it on everybody but us who have contributed whole hartedly to the mess. So isn't it time you did some thing.. brave outside of you car/bike and endured a bit of work to your legs.
2. My Experience - Arul, arul.jegadish@gmail.com. 5 mins. I commute to office by bike once in a week. I can share my experience - Preparations, precautions, abt the bike I have bought, the mistakes I made etc.
3. A good (==expensive?) bicycle - ROhan. Bicycles are available for a few hundred rupees and can cost up to a few Lakhs. Ever wondered what these more expensive bikes offer ? Are they really worth the extra bucks ? Why should I buy a cycle worth almost half a lakh when I can buy a cool(?) motor-bike for the same ? - KP- it would also be well worh discussing upgrade paths of a bicycle. so what makes the basis of a good frame for a particular application.

Shameek had this idea -- "Is it possible that we work on designing a concept bicycle ....i mean how about a prototype... it could be a design that could be discussed on....could this be possible"

Anybody interested in this idea, please add your name here ! This ties in with something that KP and me(Shree) were discussing, so anybody interested, please add your name here.

• ROhan Kini - a simple Tandem cycle sounds doo-able in a weekend
• Mallik - I want to build accessories at down to earth price. lights? camera holder?
• Shree - a handlebar mount for my GPS receiver.
• KP - A recumbent bicycle. One should have ambition (hehe)
• Mishu (Accessory Designer - NIFT bangalore) working on the Bicycle design. I would like to get in touch with all of you to discuss things relating to Bicycle design and other areas. May be we could initiate more adaptation of cycles by designing them in such a way that they become more of a LIfestyle entity and statement than just a mode of transport, which might bring up a change in the mindset of our society it being labelled as a poor mans vehicle....what dya say...suggestions, tips ,arguments & criticism utmost welcome !
• Sunil Neglur-Fabricate a steel road bike which is less expensive to buy but should be fun to ride.The Bike should be easily servicable at local bike shop but should have the best component available in the market.(Neglur_Sunil@yahoo.com)
