BCB3 Volunteers
From BarcampBangalore
Much as we're egalitarian and all that, some aspects of organising an event require that extra TLC. This page is to link up these jobs with volunteers. Please join the mailing list, watch for requests for help, and when you volunteer, add it to the Jobs Taken section. Come to the planning meets or ask on the list if you'd like more clarity.

[edit] Jobs Available
These jobs need volunteers. If you're taking it, move it to the Taken section below and add your name. If you have a job that needs a volunteer, add it here.
[edit] Attendee Mugshot Compiler
Your task is to stand by the registration desk and photograph everyone along with their name card, the way we did it for BCB1. These photos go on Flickr or elsewhere with a bcb3attendee tag. Bring your own camera, preferably one with a high quality lens, since the lighting won't be all that good.
Volunteer: (your name here)
- Srinivas Yermal - syermal at gmail - Mug shots of the first day uploaded!
[edit] Session Podcasters
We've had some really high quality sessions in the past that ought to have been recorded. We intend to do it this time. Don't go for volume -- even if means covering only one session, sit through it from the beginning to end and make sure you have one damn fine tape. Use tools like The Levelator or Audacity to clean up spoken word audio and services like Odeo to post. If we can do it by end of day, that'll be great for the buzz, but you're welcome to take your time and go for even greater quality.
You're expected to bring your own equipment and to know how to use it. If you don't, post another job listing here.
Volunteer(s): (your name here; we need lots)
- Kiruba Shankar : I'd be interested in doing a one-on-one podcast with interesting speakers. The better podcasts might get published in The Kiruba Show.
[edit] Videographers
For an event buzzing with people and ideas, photographs and blog posts only go so far. Bring your video camera and document sessions or hallway chatter, your pick.
Volunteers: (your names here)
alameen@sasken.com....Got a Panasonic Handycam....Cheese
[edit] Resource Person Coordinator
Several sessions could do with the presence of resource persons who are unlikely to have heard of Barcamp or be familiar with the concept. Your task is to look at the sessions, invite anyone you're familiar with, help them register, and at the venue, help them get this whole unconference thing, of being just another participant, not an esteemed dignitary. Once they get it, we're sure they'll like it.
Volunteers: (no, not here; add your name to the respective session's page; do not move this job to the taken section)

[edit] Registration Desk Manager
Your task is to arrive early on both days with a printout of the registrations page and check people's names off as they arrive. If someone is not registered, write their name down. In the unlikely scenario of an unexpectedly large turnout, you become the bouncer, rejecting anyone who hasn't registered.
You (and your assistant) also handle give-aways such as T-shirts and stickers, if any. Unregistered participants do not get these unless we have any spare at the end of the second day.
You agree to not abandon your post for risk of missing the first few sessions.
Volunteer(s):
- Ankur Dave, ankurd@aztecsoft.com
- Presel Karthik, preselks@aztecsoft.com
- Anand Agrawal, anand.mailbox [at] gmail
- Atishay Kumar, atishay [at] sun [dot] com
[edit] Photographers
Lots of people will be carrying cameras, but few will undertake to cover everything, or as much as they can. You agree to this responsibility. (The more the volunteers for this, the better.)
