Dear Sponsor,
I'm writing on behalf of the organizers of Barcamp Bangalore, a semi- annual open event for technology enthusiasts where anyone may participate to discuss any topic. Our team has organized two such events in 2006, both of which have received worldwide attention and participation. Our upcoming event, the third in a series, will be the most comprehensive yet. It is being organized on March 31st and April 1st (Saturday and Sunday), at the Indian Institute of Management, Bangalore.
As with previous events, the organizing team will refrain from exercising control over the content of the event, leaving that to the community of participants. Our experience with the previous events has confirmed that this approach works very well, as modern communication technologies allow communities to self-organize and prepare a schedule that maximizes their take-away. The worldwide network of Barcamp events also attests to the efficacy of this model.
At Barcamp, we do not differentiate between speakers and audience. Everyone is considered a participant and is equally welcome to propose a session and gather an audience in any of the spaces available. As an organizing team, we arrange for the venue, food, connectivity, and pre-event online discussion spaces, structuring these in manners that reduce formality and encourage rich information exchange.
You are invited to become a sponsor of the event. [[As sponsor, your organization's name and logo will be displayed prominently on a banner in the main area and in each of the halls, and on the event website.]] Your organisation's representatives are invited to be participants and to conduct or support sessions of relevance to your organisation.
Please read on for more information about the event. The following is from the initial announcement.
The venue will have four rooms. We will place a schedule board in the hallway and supply post-it notes. Participants wishing to conduct a session are expected to fill out a note and stick it in any of the available slots. Other participants may use this board to decide what to attend. During previous events, we have observed that schedules change through the day depending on what participants feel interested in, without requiring the intervention of a coordinator.
The venue will have wireless internet access that participants in the past have used to publish text and photographs live, and to coordinate between themselves without having to refer frequently to the schedule board.
The organizers are a self selected group of people who expressed interest in facilitating the event.(Detail on sponsorship amounts follows.)
