What is Barcamp Bangalore?
It’s a technology unconference. Its an event for you to discover new ideas and connect with people who are part of the technology ecosystem in Bangalore.
What is the focus for this event?
Innovation with Technology is the primary objective. The event will bring together Engineers, Designers and Business Managers to share and discuss ideas. Promoting cross-pollination across professional disciplines is the big idea here.
How is the event structured?
The event revolves around a collection of Topics. A presenter creates an topic Page on the website to share relevant content. Participants can discuss the topic on this page prior to the event. During the event, a one hour Session will be devoted to discussing this topic.

What kinds of topics can I present?
A topic should be centred around a single concept or opportunity relating to the technology space. A concept could come from design or enginneering. A opportunity could be commercial or social in nature. To ensure easy discovery by participants, a topic will be bucketed into groups (web, mobile )
What constitutes an ideal topic?
A ideal topic connects concepts and opportunites. The topic would seek to persuade the community about the value in applying a concept to address an opportunity. The focus is on the why rather than the how. Generally, a topic would pick up on innovative ideas or emerging trends. (sample topics)
Are there any restrictions on topics?
A topic cannot be used to promote a company or demonstrate its products. If you happen to be working with a interesting concept or opportunity, we encourage you to share it in a generic manner while using your product/solution to illustrate the point. We request you to be conservative in this regard.
Please note that you can also present about any topic which is not covered by the theme outlined above. One general track will be solely dedicated to this.

Any pointers on etiquette for the event?
During the event, you will be representing yourself, not your company - you are there to share and not to sell. Further, in all discussions, we strongly urge you to be polite and brief when you speak - please do not add noise to the signal.
What is the schedule for the event?
The event will be held over 2 days (7th and 8th of March). Registration will start at 8am. There will be a kickoff session at 9am. The sessions begin at 10am. There will be 4 theme tracks and 1 general track for the entire 2 days of the event. Each track will have 6 sessions per day(2×4x6 =48 sessions in all).
What is the format for a session?
The Sessions start on the hour (10am, 11am, 12am, 2pm, 3pm, 4pm). A session will be 60 minutes long with 10 min for presentation, 40min for discussion and 10 min to disperse and assemble for the next session. A paper wiki at the event will be used to dynamically schedule the topics for sessions.

How do I register to attend the event
Click on the Sign up button on the top of the page to register. We would like you give a short description of yourself for fellow barcampers to relate to you at the event and later. Registrations at the venue will start at 8am. Please be at the venue as early as possible since the venue can only accommodate a limited number of participants.
I want to register a new session. How do I go about it
Congratulations! Submit your session to “Add a Session” page. Make sure that you explain your topic well sothat people understand what they should expect from the session. Also mention any prerequisites in the topic like prior experience in the topic.
What are the tags I need to be used for event content?
Please use bcb8 tag, for all media on other sites like flickr, youtube, slideshare. When you publish photos/tweets/blogpost about one particular session, please tag it with BCB8-SXX. We will attach the media here in the session’s page automatically

If you are interested in any session, please mark it by clicking on the “I am attending button”. It helps the session speaker to know, that many people are interested in it
How can I track the sessions that have been registered (incl comments)
You can subscribe to the RSS feed of the site to get a feed of all the sessions as they are registered. You can also subscribe to a individual topic to track the comments for that topic.
